Kansas Water Intern Program (KWIP)
The Kansas Section AWWA and the Kansas Water Environment Association are proud to introduce the Kansas Water Intern Program—a water and wastewater internship program for high school students. This program is intended to create a mutually beneficial learning opportunity in the water industry for small communities and high school students within the state of Kansas.
Our mission is to educate and train the next generation of water workforce through funded internships within the state of Kansas. The Kansas Water Intern Program (KWIP) Committee is focused on growing and retaining the water and wastewater workforce of Kansas.
Benefits for Utilities
Utilities can request up to $5,000 to host a paid water or wastewater utility intern for the summer. Let us help you navigate this awesome opportunity to build the next generation of water workforce.
Internship Guidance
Through sponsoring utilities, students will be able to work alongside operators and other workers within the water and wastewater industry. These real-world opportunities will be mutually beneficial as the student gains knowledge, and the utility gains assistance over the summer.
