The
Operator Training Committee (OTC) is a working committee of the Kansas
Section of AWWA. The OTC provides technical, educational, and training
support to the operators of public water supply systems throughout the
State of Kansas. The committee consists of five regional
subcommittees, and six special subcommittees (Technical Support, Conference,
Joint Activities, Special Projects, Advisory and Operator Helping Operator).
The OTC works to build alliances with other organizations to efficiently
utilize pooled resources and better serve all water systems in Kansas.
- Cooperates with other training
providers to meet the training needs of Kansas public water supplies.
- Encourages membership in the
Kansas Section and AWWA.
- Organizes regional training
workshops in each of the five Regional districts each year.
- Regional subcommittees, in conjunction
with the OTC committee, coordinate all arrangements (facilities and
speakers) for the workshops held in their districts and provide comments
and feedback to the Committee.
- Technical Support Subcommittee
annually evaluates the need to update and produce the training materials
used for Section Workshops
- Conference Subcommittee assists
in Operator Day, and in provides operator-focused topics and speakers
for the Section's Annual Conference.
- Joint Activities Subcommittee
coordinates and plans joint training workshops with other training
providers.
- Operator Helping Operator Subcommittee
administers a mentor program networking Kansas certified operators
and small system operators in need of assistance.
- Special Projects Subcommittee
organizes and promotes participation in AWWA projects.
- Advisory Subcommittee provides
guidance to assure that OTC focus and activities support what state
and other trainers perceive as shortcomings in training available
from other sources.
