KsAWWA OPERATOR TRAINING COMMITTEE
YEAR 2004 GOALS

 

1. Ground Water and Surface Water Treatment Workshops

a. Use standard format mailer
b. Encourage pre-registration and pre-payment to help guarantee attendance
c. Conduct a minimum of two workshops in each KDHE district each year
d. Work closely with other KETS members in the scheduling and presentations of workshops
e. Develop new training topics: Chlorinator repair school; chemical feeders

2. Technical Support

a. Develop a "Trainer Recognition" program

1. Develop a directory of all trainers currently participating
2. Track trainer participation and volunteer hours
3. Recognize trainer contributions at the KsAWWA Conference
4. Identify and develop new trainers
5. Thank you letter annually from the Section

b. Continue to update and produce Ground Water, Surface Water Treatment and Distribution Training Manuals. Move towards condensing to one manual.

c. Work closely with Region Subcommittees to prepare a Small Systems Manual.
d. Develop web page for Tech Support

 

3. Conference

a. Develop sessions and contact speakers for the Sept. 2004 Annual Conference
b. Coordinate with Board of Trustees to secure adequate facilities
c. Plan and organize Operator Day activities: Top Ops, Backhoe Rodeo, and Meter Madness

1. Secure trophies, prizes, etc. (Taken care of by Section Manager)
2. Contact and confirm sponsors and judges
3. Develop advertising and registration materials, assure timely publication in conference mailings and Solutions H2O .

d. Participate in the Exhibition with an OTC/KsAWWA Membership Booth

4. Advisory

a. Review workshop training materials and agenda
b. Provide updated material on regulatory requirements to Technical Support Subcommittee
c. Review KsAWWA Conference program and determine CEUs and confirm procedure for verifying attendance

5. Special Projects

a. Develop manual supplements on hydrogen sulfide treatment
b. Review national AWWA programs and grant opportunities - identify potential projects for implementation in
Kansas

6. Joint Activities

a. Organize and present a training workshop with KRWA or KWEA
b. Coordinate with the KsAWWA Customer Service Committee to include a customer service component in the Ground Water, Surface Water, or Distribution Workshops
