The City of Arkansas City in South-central Kansas on the Kansas/Oklahoma border (pop. 11,963) is accepting applications for the position of Chief Water Treatment Facility Operator. This individual is directly responsible for the overall operations and maintenance of the City's potable water, while at all times meeting or exceeding State and Federal regulations.

Duties include management and scheduling of staff, completion of reports, collecting samples and performing water quality analyses, maintenance and calibration of equipment and facilities as well as the monitoring of gauges and responding to or correcting various alarms.

Candidates must have a high school diploma, or GED, and five years of experience in a water utility, a valid Kansas driver's license and must reside in, or relocate to, the local telephone prefix area. Candidates must also have the abilities to obtain a Class IV Water Treatment Operator's Certificate and the abilities to routinely perform basic math calculations. This individual must have the abilities to effectively communicate written and oral instructions and to work generally without direct supervision. Advanced training or education in chemistry, biology, engineering or related fields is desired. Any combination of education or experience will be considered.
