Duties of this full-time position include a variety of skilled, technical and maintenance work in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of the City water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Position works under the general guidance and direction of the Environmental Services Superintendent and supervises all water distribution and collection staff. Skills should include five year's experience relating to the construction, repair and maintenance of water and/or wastewater systems including the operation of related maintenance equipment. An AA/AS in biology, environmental science, chemistry, or a closely related field is preferred. Must be able to obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within sixty (60) days of employment. Candidate must hold a Class IV KDHE Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator and Class IV Water Supply System Operator certifications or Class IV Wastewater Collection System Operator and Class IV Water Distribution System Operator Certifications issued by ABC. Certification by the State of Kansas (KDHE) in cross connection, backflow prevention is also preferred. Candidates must possess a high school diploma/acceptable equivalent and a valid driver's license with a safe driving record as determined by the employer. The successful applicant must pass post-offer, pre-employment drug/alcohol screens along with physical capacity profile and background checks. Pay Range: $16.80/hour - $22.72/hour.
