CONTACT LOCAL PUBLIC
TELEVISION STATION
Sections have a unique role to play in encouraging public television stations
to air the documentary. It is available for free through the National
Educational Telecommunications Association. Local public television stations
can choose to air it, or not. By calling the station or sending a letter
(sample attached) explaining the local relevancy, connecting it to the
challenges faced in your own communities, station program managers will
be encouraged to schedule it. They may also be open to producing complimentary
programming on the local issues. Of course, public television in many
cases is dependent on grants and underwriting. P lease continue to encourage
them to air the program offering the KSAWWA's leadership and expertise
on infrastructure issues. Find contact information for local public television
stations here http://www.nationaloutreach.org/stationinfo/stationDirectory/index.cfm.
SCREENING EVENTS
Once the documentary is scheduled, the KSAWWA partnering with other sister
organizations, municipalities, etc., may want to consider co-hosting a
screening, forum or community discussion. The event should engage local
leaders, decision makers, state congressman and staff as well as build
partnerships with other organizationsIt could be an opportunity to leverage
Liquid Assets to enhance the community's dialogue on local infrastructure
issues.
